Patric Bown; The Artist

Patric was born in Leicester where he started a career in practical horticulture before turning to management in a Local Authority Parks & Amenity Department.

Is a horticulturist by training and this is amply demonstrated in his preferred choice of subject matter - flowers. After training with the RHS at Wisley and a career in parks management he has since 1981 developed a passion for watercolours.

He also likes to capture moods from blended colour washes poured onto the paper and frequently uses them to paint Thames based scenes with a boating aspect and featuring various London landmarks, Stonehenge and the stones at Avebury Circle, Wiltshire and other similar scenes.

His primary aim is good use of colour, with transparency, luminosity and maintaining light without the use of white paint.

Patric runs his own watercolour painting club at Coleview Community Centre (Mondays 1.15pm - 3.45pm) and tutors for Swindon College providing a wide range of classes offering watercolour painting to meet these aims at all stages of proficiency.

He is a highly successful artist with several one man exhibitions to his name and his work sells very successfully, he regularly exhibits at local exhibitions.
